Our Story

Varsity Travel—formerly Schrock Travel—was founded in 1973 by Larry and Dottie Schrock. In 2018, Tyler and Kim Tummolo purchased the company, rebranding it as Varsity Travel and expanding its focus to serve our major clients, schools, and universities. Tyler has been in the transportation industry for many years, beginning as a convoy driver in the U.S. Army. From 2011–2012, he drove the most dangerous road in Afghanistan for 13 months—a role that sharpened his skills, discipline, and commitment to safety. Today, Tyler and Kim are proud to carry on Larry and Dottie’s legacy as a veteran-owned and operated company.

At the time of the purchase, the company had a small fleet of eight motor coaches but in just a few years, and despite the challenges of COVID-19, we’ve grown into one of the largest transportation providers in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. Today, we operate 20 motorcoaches and 70+ vehicles for school, special-needs, airport, and wheelchair-accessible transportation.

We pride ourselves on safety, innovation, and community connection—maintaining top-notch fleets, building a loyal following through creative storytelling, and forming lasting partnerships like our celebrated Shenandoah University team bus. What truly sets us apart is our family-like culture: employees know they’re valued, supported, and part of something bigger.

From promoting women in transportation to partnering with organizations serving veterans, children, and families, Varsity Travel leads with heart and a commitment to making a difference—on the road and in our community.
